Guide for Authors
Authors wishing to submit manuscripts to the Journal of South African Democratic Teachers Union (JSADTU) should observe the following steps to facilitate a seamless review and publication experience:
-
- Manuscript Preparation Prepare your manuscript in line with the journal’s specified formatting and style requirements, including recommended font size, margins, and referencing style. The manuscript should be well-structured, comprising a clear abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. For more details, refer to the Author Guidelines page.
- Submission Process Manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Authors are required to create an account and follow the step-by-step procedure for uploading their manuscript and any accompanying files.
- Journal’s editorial process The journal’s editorial process is organized into four main stages from initial submission to final publication to ensure both quality and transparency. This process involves rigorous checks, peer review, necessary revisions, and final approval. Click here to view the editorial process.
- Peer Review All manuscripts go through a double-blind peer review. Authors should be prepared to revise their work in response to reviewer comments and suggestions. Additional details regarding this process can be found on the Review Process page.
- Self-Archiving Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in institutional or subject-specific repositories, personal websites, and academic networks like ResearchGate and Academia.edu. No embargo period applies, but authors should always cite the published source and include a link to the official publication. Further information is available in our Archiving Policy.
- Plagiarism Policy Our journal upholds strict standards to prevent copyright violations, plagiarism, and other breaches of publication ethics. All submitted articles undergo extensive screening using plagiarism detection tools, such as Turnitin, to confirm originality and adherence to ethical writing practices. We are committed to investigating any claims of plagiarism or misuse of published content. Further information is available in our Plagiarism policy.
- Other instructions Authors are encouraged to familiarise themselves with other aspects of the journal’s policies under the “Guide for Authors” tab. These include declarations of interest, author charges, license information, and copyright statements.
