Errata and Corrections Policy
The Journal of South African Democratic Teachers Union (JSADTU) is dedicated to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of its publications. If errors are found that do not affect the main findings but may cause misunderstanding, the journal will issue a correction as an Erratum or Corrigendum.
Definitions
Erratum: A correction issued by the journal to rectify significant editorial or production-related mistakes, such as misspelled author names, formatting issues, or incorrect placement of figures and tables.
Corrigendum: A correction initiated by the author(s) to amend errors they are responsible for, such as inaccurate data labels, incorrect affiliations, or missing acknowledgements.
Eligibility for Corrections
Corrections will be considered for the following:
Errors in the presentation of data (e.g., tables, figures, graphs) that do not change the study’s overall conclusions.
Mistakes in author names, order, or institutional affiliations.
Omissions such as funding information or declarations of competing interests.
Minor factual inaccuracies that could affect reader understanding.
The journal does not issue corrections for minor typographical or stylistic errors unless they are deemed significant by the editorial board.
Correction Process
Requests for corrections should be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, clearly outlining the error and the proposed amendment.
The editorial team will assess the request, consult with the author(s) if needed, and, in some cases, involve peer reviewers.
Once approved, corrections will be published in the next available issue under the appropriate heading (“Erratum” or “Corrigendum”) and will be linked to the original article online.
Transparency and Access
All corrections will be openly accessible and will not alter or obscure the original article. The online version of the article will include a clear notice and a direct link to the published correction to maintain a transparent scholarly record.
